A bit about me
I’m Lena—some friends call me Mitts. I’m a motion designer and illustrator based in Vienna. Studio Mitts is my creative home for visual storytelling that connects people, supports sustainable ideas, and celebrates the world around us. I work with studios, companies, and people who value thoughtful design. I’m inspired by simplicity, colour, and the rhythms of both music and nature. I love creating playful, thoughtful visuals that leave a lasting impression—and maybe even spark a smile.
While studying graphic design in London, I found myself drawn to animation—especially frame-by-frame. Designing for movement felt intuitive, like unlocking a whole new dimension of creative storytelling. Since then, I’ve been crafting videos and animations that turn ideas into engaging visual stories. With experience in the industry — working as a Motion Designer at Nexxar and being part of the paradots team — I’ve helped many clients transform their messages into clear and captivating visuals that speak directly to their audience.
To me, motion design and illustration go hand in hand—like dancing to music. Both rely on rhythm, flow, and balance, creating harmony between motion and stillness. I love working with colourful illustration and animation, visualising my ideas and making them memorable. In my personal work, I like observing my surroundings and capturing life’s smaller moments. Always looking for a sense of playfulness—whether through narrative, acting, or design.
Outside of work, you’ll probably find me rollerskating, walking through the woods, or caring for my ever-growing jungle of houseplants. These little rituals keep me grounded and often spark new ideas. Movement, nature, and rhythm all feed into my creative process, and bring a curious and playful energy into my work.
